FLY OF THE WEEK

The Lightning Bug is a great fly to be fishing for Trout with when there is no hatch going on. It’s shimmer and bright color imitate a wide variety of Nymphs. The Lightning Bug and the Prince Nymph are my go to fly when Nymph fishing, there is just something about this fly that Trout just cannot avoid. I have also caught all kinds of Sunfish, and I actually have caught a couple of Tilapia and Largemouth bass occasionally with the Lightning Bug.  Pick a few up today at Orvis.

VERY GOOD PATTERN!! I have always thought that fish are attracted by these shining colours, so I believe it is a good fly to fish with. I’ll tye some.

That’s a good looking fly…what’s the body made of?

(David Knapp) It’s made with flat silver tinsel and what Orvis calls Nymph Spectrablend.
