My advice on the West Fork is to give it a couple of months. Water levels are extremely low. And the trout are extremely wary. With any luck, it will start fishing better February – March. April through June are typically the best months. Walk or bike in two or three miles if you can.
Biggest Fish I have caught on the North Fork so far.

Thanks for the tip. I had always assumed the North Fork was to small for fish but after reading about your success I decided to give it a try. Last week I finally caught my first fish on the North Fork.

You caught those fish in the San Gabriel River. I have been biking up there for over 10 years and had no idea there were any fish. Here I am thinking I have no other options for fly fishing, then when I can make it up to the Sierras. Thanks for the info, I think you just converted another purist!
Yep. Next time your up there take a little time to fish. It gets pounded by people in the Summer, but as soon as the Fall comes the fishing action is back on.
