The Sucker Spawn is a tradition go to, winter Steelhead fly. But, we don’t really have many uses for Steelhead Flies in Southern California. Luckily this fly doubles as one of my favorite Carp Flies. I have a whole box dedicated to Sucker Spawns and Egg Flies just for Carp on the LA River and other local waters. I have tied this fly more than any other and in so any different material, color, size, etc. variations that it would be to long to list. Pick up some materials over at The Trout Spot and tie a few of your own variations.
